About Us

Charlie’s Shop Around the Corner is a community-centered children’s bookstore and literacy space envisioned in Oklahoma City for children, teens, parents, educators, and book lovers of all ages. Inspired by the warmth of neighborhood bookstores, intentional childhood spaces, and the belief that books help shape who we become, our mission is to create a welcoming environment where families can gather, discover stories, and build lifelong relationships with reading.

At the heart of this dream is our son, Charlie. All we ever wanted was to pass down our love of books to him, and somehow, we did. Though he is only two years old, we have already watched his curiosity, imagination, and confidence blossom through stories, reading, and exploration. Watching him fall in love with books reminded us how powerful literary spaces can be in shaping childhood, connection, and community.

We believe children deserve beautiful, intellectually rich spaces designed with them in mind. We want to build a space where curiosity is encouraged, imagination is celebrated, and every child feels like they belong. From thoughtfully curated board books and multilingual collections to cozy reading corners, YA spaces, parenting resources, and community programming, every part of Charlie’s Shop Around the Corner is being built with care, connection, and community at its heart.

At its core, this dream began with a love of books, family, and the magic of meaningful spaces. We are committed to fostering literacy, supporting families and educators, and creating a bookstore experience where customers feel remembered, welcomed, and at home.
